Description

James Dee “JD” Crowe (August 27, 1937 in Lexington, Kentucky) is an American banjo player. Crowe got his professional start playing with Jimmy Martin’s Sunny Mountain Boys while still in his teens. The 1975 version of Crowe’s New South band with they’re “Rounder 0044” recording is widely considered one of the most influential bluegrass groups of the last thirty years. He retired from full-time touring in 2012.
