J.B.F. Champlin Cutlery was founded by John Brown Francis Champlin in Little Valley, New York, in 1882 and became one of the early foundations of the American cutlery industry. Originally established as a wholesale cutlery business, it later evolved into the Cattaraugus Cutlery Company, one of the nation’s most respected knife manufacturers. Champlin also played an important role in the careers of the Case brothers, who later founded W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company. Today, original J.B.F. Champlin knives are highly valued by collectors for their craftsmanship, rarity, and important place in American knife-making history.

Lonnie Basham is helping revive the historic J.B.F. Champlin Cutlery name, bringing this legendary American knife brand back to modern collectors and users. Available exclusively at Red Hill Cutlery, the new J.B.F. Champlin knives feature traditional craftsmanship, premium materials, and classic American pocketknife patterns inspired by the company’s rich heritage. Among the most anticipated releases is the Teardrop Barlow, a timeless pattern that reflects the quality and design principles that made J.B.F. Champlin a respected name in American cutlery history. These new knives honor the legacy of J.B.F. Champlin while introducing a new generation of enthusiasts to one of the pioneering names in American knife making.
