Description

The Boker Abalone combines an extraordinary look with an outstanding performance. The drop-forged blade of this exceptional knife is made of carbon steel O-1 (1.2510) and hardened to 59-61 HRC. Due to its superior properties and its excellent edge retention, this carbon steel is ideal for high-quality razors. In addition to classic materials, which have shaped the popular models of the Boker razor range for many decades, they are continuously looking for modern and innovative natural material combinations that cause enthusiasm due to their special look or feel. White gold, sea snails, or sea ears are just a few synonyms for abalone.

The mollusks that suck up to the coasts of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Mexico, and South Africa a few meters below the surface of the water are considered a delicacy and have triggered entire gang wars in the past due to their desirability. Today the precious natural product is grown in aquaculture farms. The beautiful and almost artificially shimmering shells of these popular mollusks have always been used as a decorative object, as a commodity or as a raw material for jewelry, inlays, or mother-of-pearl clasps. Using the most modern manufacturing processes, a wafer-thin layer of colorful abalone is applied to a carrier material and covered with transparent acrylic encased. The very resistant material obtained in this way is ideally suited for the production of razor handles and impresses with its unusual play of colors and a three-dimensional look.
